“The protagonist wanders the streets contemplating literature. Each block he wanders reminds him how everyday folk, stories, situations impinge on writing. He decides to rewrite a friends novels (written in 10 chapters with ten different voices), so the cover reflects his journey and the theme of 10. Repetition is a key motif, and the author uses the ampersand as a paragraph break, so the rest of the design rather fell in to place. I drew a few ampersands with different characters and work out the grid. The b + w was an earlier version which came a close second.”
