There’s no secret to how this cover came about. It’s an homage to the late Ray Lowry’s classic design to the Clash’s London Calling album. Which in turn is an homage to the cover design of Elvis’s first album. I find particularly poignant as I live opposite Wessex Studios, where London Calling was recorded, and work next door to the former site of Vanilla Studios, where they rehearsed – either end of the number 19 bus route…
